Sales Engineer / Business Development

Reports to: Director of Sales, Marketing and Customer Service


Position Description:

We are seeking a highly motivated Technical Sales professional to drive revenue growth by combining deep technical knowledge of our products and applications with strong customer-facing sales skills. This role involves extensive travel (approximately 50–60%) to meet with customers, deliver product demonstrations, product training, support pre- and post-sales activities, and develop long-term customer relationships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify, develop, and manage new and existing customer accounts
  • Travel regularly to customer sites for sales meetings, product demonstrations, technical presentations, and relationship building
  • Understand customer technical requirements and recommend appropriate solutions
  • Collaborate with engineering, product management, and customer support teams to develop tailored solutions
  • Prepare and deliver technical proposals, quotations, and sales presentations
  • Manage the full sales cycle, from lead qualification through contract negotiation and closing
  • Provide market feedback on customer needs, competitive activity, and industry trends
  • Support installations, commissioning, and post-sale technical support as required
  • Maintain accurate records of sales activities, forecasts, and customer interactions in CRM systems
  • Represent the company at trade shows, conferences, and industry events
  • This position requires travel throughout the U.S and Canada
  • Maintain solid business hours and availability to the organization

Minimum Experience Requirements:

  • 5-7 years technical field sales experience
  • Experience selling market specific products/solutions—e.g., control systems and components, industrial, material handling and or mobile hydraulic equipment markets
  • Experience working with CRM tools such as Salesforce, HubSpot, or similar
  • Prior experience supporting customers in a field-based role

Education Requirements:

  • 4 year Business degree or equivalent experience with technical aptitude
  • 2 year technical degree with sales and marketing experience
  • 5-7 years technical sales experience
